Droid Incredible Launched by HTC

Also the mobile application development arena has seen the influx of Android applications owing to the increasing affinity of the developer community towards Android application development.
Adding fuel to this war is Verizon Wireless that has launched HTC’s Droid Incredible, an Android based smartphone. Such intense were the preparations of delivering the handset that Verizon ensured that every customer who ordered the phone even as late as the day before got it delivered on the 29th of April 2010. The cost of the device was tagged at $200 including a 2 year service contract and an instant online discount of $100.
The Droid Incredible is being touted to be Verizon’s second flagship phone operating on the Android platform. The primary model available from Verizon prior to this release was the Motorola Droid. The Droid Incredible uses the Android 2.1 operating system and is powered by 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor made available by Qualcomm.
A 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution adorns the handset which also sports an 8 mega pixel camera. Browser supports Adobe’s Flash Lite 4.0 which is an advantage that the Droid Incredible enjoys over the iPhone along with a larger display. HTC’s Sense user interface is also available that is customized via Android to allow socal networking support and state-of-the-art screen switching tools.
HTC is reputed manufacturer in the smartphone category established in the field of Android and Windows Mobile phones. The EVO 4G is rumoured to be the latest release from HTC is a WiMax powered Android smartphone and also supports Spring’s 3G network. It runs on Android 2.1 version and the Sense UI.
This inception of a cutting edge smartphone into the lucrative Android marketplace has opened the floodgates of opportunities for Android application development to prosper and thrive.
